Make a Reservation for the "Grand Hotel"

You won't be disappointed.

Julio and Alicia
Do you love period dramas, like Downton Abbey, Mr Selfridge, or Boardwalk Empire? Do you enjoy a good whodunnit mystery? Have I got a show for you! For the past couple of days, I have been binge watching a magnificent series from Spain: Grand Hotel and it is Must See TV!

Synopsis: "1905. Julio, a young man, arrives at the Grand Hotel, an idyllic place in the middle of the countryside, to investigate the disappearance of his sister. He gets a job as a waiter and comes across the sexy wealthy daughter of the owner. He falls in love with her and starts a dangerous affair while she becomes the only person who will help him to discover the truth about his sister's disappearance. Find out all the secrets and mysteries hidden in the wonderful Grand Hotel" (Written by Bambú Producciones).

Review: This is one addictive show! It grabs you from the start, thanks in particular to the charismatic leads, Yon González (Julio) and Amaia Salamanca (Alicia). The other actors are also compelling and excellent; the location, a beautiful old Spanish estate on the water (Palacio de la Magdalena), is glorious; the costumes are a delight; the scenes of old Spanish towns, with cobblestone streets and lanes lighted by torches, are wonderfully atmospheric! The plot swings from some truly touching moments to flights of operatic grandeur but it is the love story of Julio and Alicia that keeps the whole thing grounded and keeps you glued to the screen. Amazing!

The series has completed three seasons and is available for streaming on either Netflix or Hulu. Hulu only has the first season, where Netflix has seasons 1 and 2.
